Iomob was the first Mobility as a Service (MaaS) company to build a specific MaaS solution for the rail industry (RailMaaS). After a highly competitive process, Renfe, the Spanish rail operator with the second largest high-speed rail network in the world!, chose Iomob to develop an extended trial in Spain, starting with users between Barcelona and Madrid. Today we are excited to announce that we will be commencing what we hope to be a long and productive partnership with our second rail client, London North Eastern Railway, LNER.

We are proud of what we have built for Renfe so far, as we demonstrated our technical prowess by supporting seamless multimodal intercity and intracity journeys combining rail with taxis, ridehailing (Cabify), a growing range of micromobility services, public transit and more. Users can discover, combine services, book (or even unlock vehicles) and pay for those services inside the Renfe app powered by our own proprietary routing algorithms and deep integration of mobility services. These same seamless journeys will be offered to current and new LNER customers in the coming months.

Furthermore, Iomob has been pioneering what MaaS can do to allow people to more safely return to the new normal during and Post-Covid-19. Iomob is in active development of new features, such as filters for multimodal social distant journey options as well as a new feature we call Virtual Seat and Mobility Passport whereby users will be able to reserve time slots for public transit and suburban rail services in advance. While LNER has taken the great step of requiring advanced booking for all their rail services to ensure sufficient distance between passengers on their services, as LNER moves to offering a truly multimodal experience we are hopeful to support their passengers in ensuring a safe multimodal journey to get to and from the stations as well.

While our journey with LNER is only just beginning we are certain that together we will manage to help them and their passengers achieve seamless, safe and amazing travel experiences throughout the UK. We are excited that LNER has chosen Iomob for this journey and are ready to dive in. This project will be led by Iomob’s latest star edition to our team, Adrian Ulisse.

Stay tuned for more about this project, and another RailMaaS solution we expect to start later in 2020.
